SERC is delighted to be part of the Newry, Mourne and Down Intercultural Forum which supports underrepresented groups in the local community. Adele Uprichard, pictured below, is the SERC representative on the Forum and here she shares a few more details on what SERC has to offer the BME community:
As a Further and Higher Education College delivering programmes to learners from all walks of life we have first-hand experience of challenges faced by our students from minority groups, starting with the basics such as language barriers. In recent years we have been delivering English courses to Syrian refugees in community venues, recognising that stepping into the classroom can be quite daunting for many students, never mind the logistical challenges associated with travelling to the local College.
SERC holds a Tier 4 Licence which allows International students access to apply for a Tier 4 Visa to study at SERC. UK immigration policy changes regularly and while we’ll try to keep this section of the website up-to-date, it is advisable that students also consult the UK Government website for the most recent information https://www.gov.uk/tier-4-general-visa
We offer a broad range of internationally recognised qualifications: University Degree, Foundation Degrees, Higher National Diplomas (HND) as well as English Language Training, Professional Qualifications and Vocational courses. These courses offer progression routes to many degree programmes at UK universities or to employment.
We also deliver award-winning teacher training programmes combining innovative pedagogical methodologies with a practical, technology-driven approach to help drive efficiencies and improve learner outcomes.
In addition SERC is an IELTS Test Centre which gives local candidates access to a high stake world renowned English Language test which is trusted by 11,000 organisations across the globe. SERC offers regular test dates both Online and Paper Based and can be booked via IELTS – British Council – South Eastern Regional College.
