County Down Rural Community Network

Paula Nixon, Community Health Development Officer and Frances McCormick Rural Community Development Officer within County Down Rural Community Network (CDRCN). Our staff are founder members of the Newry Mourne & Down Intercultural Forum and helped with its formation.

CDRCN is a voluntary umbrella body set up and managed by community groups and has been serving the community for over 26 years. We are committed to an inclusive future where all citizens actively participate in local life, helping each other to create a healthy, peaceful, vibrant & sustainable society across County Down. As well as supporting and signposting upwards of 300 groups to services and other agencies we also provide direct support to individuals and those in need including Black and Minority Ethnic Communities. For example we have facilitated a Good Relations Youth Summer Programme, as well as delivering a broad range of health and wellbeing programmes and help groups to secure funding.
