About Us

Newry, Mourne & Down Intercultural Forum

Our mission is to embrace diversity

The Newry, Mourne & Down Intercultural Forum is an interagency partnership with a mission to create opportunities to embrace diversity and inclusivity with BME communities. They continuously contribute to ensure the distribution of vital information to support BME communities across the district and maximise resources and opportunities to promote equity, diversity and interdependence.

The agencies seek to promote peaceful integration, active interaction and communication in an environment of mutual respect and support. Their aim is to achieve sustainable coexistanse between the diverse communities with different cultural backgrounds, traditions and languages.

Among the primary limitations are language, cultural differences, historical background, personal beliefs, economic constraints, and social boundaries. These are considered communicational barriers and represent a challenge for creating an open space for communication, learning, and encouraging respect. The social integration of intercultural groups is a constant and critical challenge for improving coexistence and embracing culture and diversity.
